Outreach Services

Outreach is the library's service program for Waukesha residents who are homebound. If you are confined to your home because of illness, disability, age or other qualifying circumstance, we bring library materials to you! Most library services that are available to walk-in customers are also available to individuals who are homebound. Outreach customers have access to a wide variety of books, audiobooks, DVDs and other formats from the library's extensive collection.

Our Outreach Library Associate makes approximately 275 scheduled visits per month to Waukesha health care facilities, assisted living facilities, retirement communities, and people residing in their own homes and apartments who have no other means of receiving library service. Our delivery and pick-up service is available only to residents of the City of Waukesha. However, homebound library service is also available to residents throughout the county. For further information, please contact the Waukesha County Federated Library System at (262) 896-8245.

The Waukesha Public Library is also a referral site for the free Talking Book Program of the Library of Congress. The regional Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library provides Braille and recorded books and playback equipment for those Wisconsin residents who, for any physical reason, cannot read normal print.
